Karen L. Walsh

Chairman of the Board of the PA Energy Alliance

Karen L. Walsh is the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Energy Alliance. The mission of the PA Energy Alliance is to increase public awareness of the environmental and economic benefits of nuclear energy.

Ms. Walsh brings to the Alliance more than 20 years of government service at both the state and federal levels. She served as U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr.'s Deputy Chief of Staff and his liaison with central Pennsylvania business leaders, non-profit organizations, elected officials and community groups.

From 1997-2007, Ms. Walsh was Mr. Casey's top communications and policy advisor during his tenure as Auditor General and State Treasurer. She coordinated several successful advocacy campaigns that led to dramatic changes in state policies and programs for women, children and families.

Ms. Walsh was working in Washington, D.C. in 1989 when James Carville recruited her to Pennsylvania to work for Governor Robert P. Casey. She was a key strategist on the Governor's historic 1990 re-election campaign and later served as a Special Assistant to the Governor and Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet.

Ms. Walsh serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children and is a member of the Pennsylvania Early Learning Council. She previously served on the Board of the Friends of the State Museum.

A native of Maine, Ms. Walsh graduated from the University of Minnesota. She and her family live in central Pennsylvania.

The Alliance's Advisory Board recommends how to best fulfill the Alliance's mission of increasing awareness of the need for energy policies that protect the environment and improve the state's economy.
