On May 5, 2009, the PA Energy Alliance proudly sponsored of the third Annual PA Parks & Forests Foundation (PPFF) Awards Banquet. The mission of the PPFF is “to enhance Pennsylvania’s parks and forests, protect Pennsylvania’s natural resources, and support conservation and environmental programs.” The annual awards recognize outstanding service and programs provided by both volunteers and staff at state parks and forests. Karen Walsh, Executive Director, presented this year’s Education Award to The Friends of Colonel Denning State Park for their ongoing support of environmental education and public programming at the park. During the 2008 summer camping season – when a key staff position was unable to be filled – the Friends stepped in to organize a number of activities and speakers to promote stewardship of Pennsylvania’s natural resources and to educate and entertain park visitors. Two members of the PPFF Board of Directors, Peter Duncan and Brian Clark, also serve on the Advisory Board of the PA Energy Alliance.
